Internet over fiber is a technology that offers virtually unlimited bandwidth for a very reasonable cost.
Fiber-optic communication is a method of transmitting information from one place to another by sending pulses of light through an optical fiber. The light forms an electromagnetic carrier wave that is modulated to carry information. First developed in the 1970's, fiber optics are capable of carrying an extremely high volume of information. Fiber optics needs special types of cables composed of fiber strands surrounded by an outer core called cladding. Usually several strands are in a single cable. Special transmitters and receivers at each end convert digital content into pulses of light.
Fiber for internet use has been slow to be developed in less populous areas due to the expense of laying cables and provisioning the transmission and receiving equipment. However some big steps have been taken recently in the Four Corners area due in part to the participation of our city and county governments.
Brainstorm currently offers high speed fiber connections in a growing service area that includes Cortez, Durango, Farmington, and Grand Junction.
- Our Gigabit Ethernet backbone provides fiber service scalable to 250 x 250mbps. That's the equivalent of 165 T1's & much more manageable.
- Link offices / connect remote workers with our managed business Ethernet technology. Converge multiple services with a single, powerful fiber Internet network. Lowest latency for data & voice.
