Putting
Your
Favorite Websites
On
Your Start Menu/Dock
Do
you
have a couple of favorite
websites
that you visit
regularly?
Wouldn't it
be
nice to get to them
with
one easy click? How
about
putting them on
your
Start menu (Windows)
or your Dock (Mac)?
It's
really
easy and here's
how
to do it:
PC/Windows - Open
your web browser and
go
to the website that
you
want to add
- Move
your browser window
to the side a bit so
that you can see your
desktop screen. (You
might need to use the
Restore Down button
just to the left of
the
red X button in the
upper right corner.)
- Click
on
the small icon immediately
to the left of the http://
address in the web browser
and drag it to your
desktop. This will create
a shortcut on the desktop.
- Click
on the new shortcut
and drag it over your
Start menu button but
don't release it yet.
This will cause your
Start menu to open.
- Keep
holding the mouse button
down and drag up into
the upper area of your
Start menu and drop
the shortcut where you'd
like it to reside.
- Whenever
you want to go to that
website all you need
to do now is click open
your Start menu and
one click on the shortcut
and you're there.
- If
you want to remove a
shortcut from your Start
menu just right-click
on it and choose Remove
From This List.
Mac/OS
X
- Open
your web browser and
go to
the website that you
want to add to your
Dock.
- Click
on
the small icon immediately
to
the left of the http://
address
in the web browser
and
drag it to the far
right
area of your
Dock
(but not into
the
Trash!). You just
need
to be on the right
side
of the subtle divider
line in the Dock.
- Release
the icon where you want
it to reside.
- Whenever
you want to go to that
website all you need
to do now is one click
on
the shortcut in the
Dock and you're there.
- If
you want to remove a
shortcut from your Dock
just click on it and
drag it up off the Dock
and release it.
